Twitter adds Search function! No comments yet

It’s a beautiful day for us Twitter maniacs for now we can search Twitter post without leaving the site using their new search box. Before the search box addition, which was added earlier today, I would search Twitter posts using www.terraminds.com/twitter/ and Twitteroll.

What Twitter search means for Social Media Marketers

being able to search Twitter posts by topic means you can follow Twitterers that share your interest or that of your client. This is significant because usually people will follow you back if your posts and links speaks to their interest. This serves as a great network building tool because it allows you to use this micro-platform to deliver your message instantaneously. Let’s say I wanted to increase traffic for www.buyyourfriendadrink.com, a site that allows you to buy your friends drinks online by sending them redeemable codes to their mobile phones. I would do a Twitter search around bars, drinking, liquor, party, and build a network of people interested in drinking. Then I would periodically Twit the BYFAD.com link along with any relevant promotion and BANG! You got instant traffic, conversation=awareness, registration.

What other ways can Twitter be used?

For quite sometime I’ve been meaning to blog about the transitions people take from the social web to real life. If one of the main motivators to participate in social networks is to meet and interact with other, how is this playing a role in out real social interactions and what are social networks doing to facilitate/leverage this “Social Web to Life” phenomenon?

The future of social media will see the development social networks’ ability to shape face-to-face interactions. What social networks do you know are doing bringing people together in real life under their brand and what opportunities does this give to social media marketers?

www.citizenspace.co/uk provides a well designed forum for people to discuss political and engage in local and central government decision-making. Let’s try to keep it across the pond at least until Bush leaves the White House. He already gets enough hate mail.

And www.talkshoe.com lets you browse, live chat and create podcasts. This is a handy web tool for those interested in audio blogging.
